Woven Wire Mesh RFI Shielded Plastic Radio Case Enclosures
Several years ago Mr. Paul Burton approached Screen Technology Group seeking assistance in the development of a woven wire mesh specification suitable for RFI shielding. In addition to numerous other constraints Mr. Burton stressed the importance of a mesh that was suitable for insertion into a thermo plastic injection molded product. While its not uncommon to provide samples customers with unique applications, Mr. Burtons concept was novel in conjunction with a huge market potential. His vision involved the automotive radio and electronics industry, specifically to replace sheet metal enclosures (cases) with a much lighter plastic housing that would meet or exceed shielding requirements in conjunction with reduced material costs. Another advantage of the plastic components was the major savings in assembly labor. Allen Dorn, President of STG who had been raised in the injection molding industry recognized the vast potential of Mr. Burtons concept with special appreciation for his considerable knowledge and experience in the field of injection molding. Mr. Burton also demonstrated a unique talent for new product development. STG recognized Burtons potential and quickly set out to provide him with technical advise and supported his considerable needs in developing the right specification for his application. Any thing Burton wanted to experiment with was provided without concern of the time and expenses involved. Mr Burton initially suggested he had a million dollar concept. Stg was quickly convinced he actually had a billion dollar concept. Learn More
